Leola Pearl Dozer

Leola Pearl Dozer, age 90, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston, Ohio. She was born March 1, 1927 in Jackson County, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Adam Dempsey and Helen Dorothy Cooper Dempsey.

Leola, a 1945 graduate of Coalton High School, was a homemaker and Pastor’s wife. She was an ordained Deaconess of the Wesleyan Church and was a former member of the District Board of Administration for Eastern Ohio Wesleyan Church. When her health permitted Leola attended the Hope United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Juanita Jane and Douglas Wayne Thatcher of Lorain, Ohio; grandchildren, Julie Rene Edwards and husband, Chad, of Reynoldsburg and John Adam Thatcher and wife, Lorna of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Codie Beeson, Krista Beeson, Jordan Thatcher, Michael Edwards, Adam Thatcher and Hayden Thatcher, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Leola was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Earl Dozer on Monday, Jan.1, 2018; son, Larry Eugene Dozer in 1947; brother, Ralph Eugene Dempsey, and sisters, Lois Eloise Landis and Marcena Mae Rice. Joint calling hours and funeral service with her husband, Charles, will be Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. Pastor Butch Cooper will officiate and burial will be in the Boblett Cemetery.
