Kerry Lynn Markham

Kerry Lynn Markham, age 69, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born in Jackson, Ohio, on Aug. 19, 1949, to Willis H. Markham and Letha A. (McCallister) Markham, who preceded her in death.

Kerry was a graduate of Jackson High School with the Class of 1967 and from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, in 1971. She was a librarian in Toronto, Canada, for 10 years before moving back to the states. She was employed at the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library for 27 years until she retired in 2010.

Kerry was a resident of Jenkins Care Community for the last six years of her life. She shared many interests with staff and friends there. Kerry loved books, candy, baseball, puzzles, and cats. She shared her home with many cats throughout her life.

She is survived by her sister, Gloria Wood of Jackson and two brothers, James and Dale (Karen) Markham, both of Jackson. Kerry is also survived by the following nieces and nephews: Chrystal Cox of Port St. Joe, Florida; Sonya Tennant of Ray, Ohio; Troy Markham of Bexley, Ohio; Shannon Markham of Grove City, Ohio; Monica Waldorf of Gahanna, Ohio; Samantha Jackson of Jackson, Ohio; Cayce Markham of Jackson, Ohio; Laura Fosson of Waverly, Ohio; Lisa Williams of Lebanon, Ohio; and Vance Markham of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.

The family would like to thank Jenkins Care Community and staff for the love, care, comfort and support shown to Kerry for the time that she lived there.

A memorial service for Kerry will be held on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church, corner of Orange and Star Streets in Jackson.

It was Kerry’s plan to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send monetary donations to Lewis and Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson to offset the cost of funeral expenses.
