Karl Thomas Brandau, Sr.

Karl Thomas Brandau, Sr., age 89, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio.  He was born Oct. 1, 1930 in Jackson County, Ohio to the late Frank and Mary Frisby Brandau. 

Karl retired from Austin Powder, where he was employed for 46 years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, shooting guns, and he couldn’t wait until spring so he could mow the grass. 

Karl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris J. Griffith Brandau; sons, Tom Brandau (Terri) of Wellston and Terry Brandau of Wellston; grandchildren, Crystal Golden (Randy), Beth Dixon (Eric Vest), Jason Brandau (Jill) and Casey Brandau (Breanna Salzbrun); along with eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Karl was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sharon Brandau; one great-granddaughter, and 12 brothers and sisters.

In keeping with Karl’s requests, there will be no public services and cremation will take place. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Karl’s memory be given to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.
