John P. Canter

John P. Canter, age 56, of Cleveland, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 15, 2019.  He was born Jan. 15, 1963 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Pearl and Betty (Cartwright) Canter. 

John was employed as a sprinkler fitter for several years. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. 

John is survived by his wife, Tina (Bly) Canter; children, Josh, Brandi, Cameron, Chad and Charlie Canter, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Dicoda, Zaiden and Xander; brother, Mike Buckley (Betty) of Hamden; sisters, Martha Tilley (Gary) of Jackson and Sue Covin of Jackson; along with several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, James “Jay” Canter. 

Calling hours will be Monday, July 22, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours on Monday at 6 p.m., with Pastor Gary Tilley officiating.

In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Salem Cemetery.
