Jerry Douglas “Doug” Collins

Jerry Douglas “Doug” Collins, age 55, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at his home. He was born August 7, 1957 in Logan, Ohio to Jerry “Satch” Collins and Joy P. Arthur Collins.

Doug was a 1975 graduate of Wellston High School and a veteran of the United States Army, having served with the 24th Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He was a former employee with Rockwell International where he was an aircraft structural mechanic. Doug loved hunting, fishing and all sports, including baseball, football and racing and he was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

He is survived by his mother, Joy Collins of Wellston; his wife of 35 years, Judy Gastin Collins; children, Jessica Collins of Jackson and Joseph Collins of Wellston; grandson, Holden Blankenship of Jackson; sisters, Debbie Collins of Wellston and Roxane Mullins (Dave) of Jackson; brother, Jimmy Collins (Amy) of Wellston; nieces and nephews, Ryan Collins, Wesley Henry, Morgan Mullins, Mackenzie Mullins, Logan Collins and Paige Collins; uncle, Johnny Arthur of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Ellen Potts of Wellston; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lori and Dwayne Varney of Stockdale; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rick and Sue Leach of Wellston and Rondell and Marcie Potts of Canton, as well as several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry “Satch” Collins, his son, Josh Collins, and his father-in-law, Ronnie Potts.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home.
