James William “Jim” Gregory

James William “Jim” Gregory, 69, of Wellston, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 2, 1947 in McArthur, Ohio, son of the late William Lewis and Dorothy Ann (Graves) Gregory.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was a recipient of several service medals including the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the Sharpshooter Medal for his talents with a Rifle M-14. Jim was a member of the AMVETS. He was a handy man who could fix anything. For a number of years he repaired automobiles, televisions, and many other appliances. Most of all, Jim loved and cherished the moments he spent with his family, traveling and family picnics among other activities. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Carolyn Dillinger Gregory; children: Russell Gregory, Jennifer Devlin (Justin), Stephanie (Kevin) Casto, and Richard Gregory; six grandchildren: Jacob, Ethan, and Nathan Devlin and Taylor, Justin, and Mason Casto; sister, Jean (Terry) Goodman; brother, Steve (Renee) Gregory; brother-in-law, Bruce (Wanda) Dillinger; sister-in-law, Janet Dillinger; ex brother-in-law, Bob Martin; ex son-in-law, Robert Devlin, Jr.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Keith Dillinger and his father- and mother-in-law, Byrd and Nola Dillinger as well as his great-nephew, Ayden Howard.

A funeral service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m.
