James Ralph Wyckoff

James Ralph Wyckoff, age 80, of Wellston, passed away following a prolonged illness on Saturday morning, September 20, 2014, at the Jenkins Care Community in Wellston, Ohio. He was born August 27, 1934 in Hamden, Ohio to the late Emmit Hamilton Wyckoff and Ruth E. Matteson Wyckoff.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of Hamden High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served three years during the Korean War. Jim was a former employee of the B&O Railroad and the US Shoe Corporation, where he developed many lifelong friendships. He retired in 1999 from USEC, where he was employed as an electrician.

Jim was an avid fisherman and loved hunting and spending time in the woods. He was the King of nature trivia. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved talking and people; Jim never met a stranger. He was an active member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston, a 50-year member of the Delta Masonic Lodge #207 F&AM in McArthur and a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

Jim is survived by his wife, whom he married on June 6, 1956, Connie Nichols Wyckoff; three children, Bonnie Arnold (Charlie) of Wellston, Tammie Bobb (Jeff) of Hamden and Ronnie Wyckoff (Mary) of Wellston; grandchildren, Ryan Bobb of Mason, W.Va., Mandie Bobb of Columbus, Lyndsie Pfiefer (Andrew) of Chillicothe, Erin Arnold of Wellston, Matthew Arnold of New Orleans, LA, Trent Wyckoff of Jackson, Jamie Wyckoff of Jackson, Jessica Wyckoff of Jackson and Matteson Wyckoff of Wellston; great-grandchildren, Jaylen Bobb, Allie Vickers, Rylie Bobb, Jayda Bodey, Jireh Bodey and Edyn Pfiefer, as well as numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, his body was cremated and services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be given in Jim’s name to a charity of your choice.
