James Michael “Mike” Scurlock

James Michael “Mike” Scurlock, age 73, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Holzer Medical Center ER in Jackson, Ohio. He was born November 30, 1938 in Trent, Michigan, the son of the late James Hugh Scurlock and Margaret L. Kleinhans Scurlock. Mike was the owner and operator of Mike’s B.P. Station in Wellston. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

Mike is survived by his children, Kimberly (Alan) Seitz of McArthur, Mary (Jeff) Vickers of Wellston, Steve (Dotty) Jones of Ray, Teresa (Charlie) Denney of Wellston and Michael (Kelly) Jones of McArthur; grandchildren, Adam and Chloe Seitz, Megan and Rogan Vickers, Freddie McCumber and Jeremiah, Emily and Keegan Jones; sister, Dorothy Ford of Delaware; brother, Gary (Jackie) Scurlock of Illinois; sister-in-law, Mona Scurlock of Hamden, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma “Jean” Scurlock; infant brother, George Scurlock and brother, Hughie Scurlock.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery will military honors by the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
