James L. “Jim” Wilbur

James L. “Jim” Wilbur, age 70, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. He was born Jan. 24, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Leroy Sullivan Wilbur and Frances Wylodean Brown Heading.

Jim was a 1966 graduate of Wellston High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a former Corrections Officer at CCI for several years, then later retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Jackson. Jim was a former member of the American Legion Post 371 and the V.F.W. Post 9092, both in Wellston. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing, bear hunting, cookouts and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Terri J. King Wilbur; son, Jimmy Wilbur (Cindy) of Jackson; step-children, Tiffany Landrum and J.D. Landrum, both of Wellston; grandchildren, Nathan Wilson, Nichele Wilson, Jerod Wilbur and Josh Wilbur, all of Wellston; great-grandchildren, Brennen and Braysen Wilson; sisters, Marian Sorrell, Earlene McManus and Nadine Owsley (Darrell), all of Wellston, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda L. Barnhouse Wilbur; daughter, Melissa Wilson; sister, Karen Childers; brother, Steve Wilbur; and step-father, Bob Heading.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home.
