Ila M. Compston

Ila M. Compston, age 77, of Wellston, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio following a long courageous battle with leukemia. She was born March 12, 1940 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Daniel Preston Ramsey and Mabel Marie Gray Ramsey.

Ila retired in 2010 from Pillsbury, where she was employed for 17 years. She was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church in Wellston and a longtime member of the Wagon Wheelers square dance group in Jackson. Most of all, Ila enjoyed spending time with and having fun with her family.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Sperry (Roger) of Wellston, Jim Compston (Polly) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Lisa Donnelly (John) of Hilliard; step-sons, Kevin Compston (Angie) of Wellston and Todd Compston of Jackson; sister, Sue Johnston (Joe) of Dayton; brothers, Mel Ramsey (Doris) of Simpsonville, SC and Roger Ramsey (Mary) of Wellston, along with eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Ila was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John F. Compston in 2011; and brothers and sisters, Dan Ramsey, Marilyn Ramsey, Jim Ramsey, Sharon Ramsey, Billy Ramsey, Betty Ramsey and two infant siblings.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Don Fairchild officiating. Final resting place will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
