Gregory “Gig” Brown

Gregory “Gig” Brown, 59, of Wellston, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Jan. 9, 1960, in Logan, Ohio, son of the late Dwight Brown, Sr. and Annabelle (Potts) Brown.

An avid outdoorsman, Greg had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing, and enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with family and friends. He also enjoyed coaching and spent many years donating time to youth football and baseball organizations. Although he could be quite stubborn, he had a strong sense of humor. He adored hosting family gatherings and having outdoor bonfires or barbeques. His lively spirit, sense of humor, and optimistic outlook will be dearly missed by many.

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Penny Brown; sons, Tyler (Emily) Brown and Joshua (Lisa) Brown; daughters, Jonda Brown (Richard McKinney) and Tara Brown (Ryan Curtis); five grandchildren, Braxton, Channing, Colton, Ryleigh, and Gabe; a brother, Brian Brown; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Brown, Jr.

A private family gathering will be held at the convenience of the family. In accordance with Greg’s wishes, cremation will follow.
