Gertrude Monk Reed, age 88 passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Edgewood Manor in Wellston. She was born on July 30, 1929 to the late John Monk and Letha Kelsey Barker in Delaware, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Frank Allen and four siblings.

Gertrude is survived by sons, Richard Allen of Minford and Daniel (Sharon) Allen of Jackson; two daughters, Sylvia Jean Dexter of Piketon and Penny Allen of Wellston; three sisters: Edith Cash of Richmondale, Naomi Elkins of Coalton and Mary Jones of London, Ohio; grandchildren: Connie (Marty) Wiseman, Debbie (David) Shover, Richard Allen of Jackson, Kimberly (Dave) Boughton of Hilliard, Daniel (Pam) Allen of Coalton, Christa Markin of Hamden, Bobbie Jean McNealy of Coalton, Kevin Sherrick and Tim Sherrick of Logan, Frank Sherrick of Wisconsin, Tammy (Bob) Cook of Piketon, Kathy (David) Snyder of Lucasville, Patty Cook of Columbus; twenty-nine great grandchildren and twenty-three great-great grandchildren with a new little boy arriving in October.

Friends may call on Wednesday September 27, 2017 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m. with service starting at 3 p.m. with Bill Taylor officiating. Burial to follow at Fairmount.
