Gerald David “Dave” Landrum

Gerald David “Dave” Landrum, age 64, passed away June 14, 2017 in Jackson, Ohio. He was born May 22, 1953 to the late Walter and Betty Landrum of Jackson, Ohio.

Dave is survived by his wife, Penelope “Penny” Landrum whom he married June 28, 1971. To this union was born three children: David (Christy) Landrum, Sabrina (Rusty) Hill, and Jeremy (Amy) Landrum all of Jackson, Ohio; grandchildren: Hunter Hill of Jackson, Ohio, Emily (Aaron) Jackson of Germany, Gunner Hill of Jackson, Ohio, Garrett Landrum of Jackson, Ohio; great-grandchild, Kendrick Hill Jackson; brothers: Roger (Madeline) Landrum, Mark (Barbara) Landrum, Terry Landrum (Dave D.), Mike (Penny) Landrum, all of Jackson, Ohio; sisters: Marsha (Sherman) Baisden of Jackson, Ohio and Sandy Scott of Jackson, Ohio; mother-in-law, Donna Jean Jordan; step-mother-in-law, Lois Swain; sisters-in-law: Patty Williams of Jackson, Ohio and Judy Canter of Jackson, Ohio, Teresa Slusher of Minford, Ohio and Loretta Payne of Minford, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Paul Swain of Jackson, Ohio, Keith B. Swain of Jackson, Ohio, Leonard Swain of Minford, Ohio, Keith Swain of Jackson, Ohio, and Jason Swain of Jackson, Ohio; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A mechanic by trade, Dave had many good friends who loved being around him at his garage and were absolutely amazed by his mechanical talents. He loved building race cars and working on any kind of car. He was brilliant at mastering anything he worked on. At one time, he built and operated Jackson County Speedway in Jackson, Ohio. Everyone loved being around him. The constant humor and knowledge he had was contagious. The last few years of his life was difficult with bad health, but his wife Penny was loyal and devoted to his care even up to the last moments before he passed away. He got to tell her good-bye, and she the same. They were a true love story. Family and friends were always there for Dave, and he most certainly loved them all.
