Geneva (Hurt) Sluss

Geneva (Hurt) Sluss, age 85, of Hamden, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Four Winds Nursing Home. She was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on December 1, 1929 to the late Garland Hurt and Nervie (Hall) Hurt.

She is survived by sons, Tim Sluss (Shirley) of South Carolina and Tom Sluss of Waverly; daughter, Christine (Gary) Wickline of Hamden; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie James Sluss; a brother, Ernest Hurt, and sisters, Virginia Collins and Faunetta Johnson.

Geneva loved spending time with her grandchildren and quilting.

Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 1 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015.
