Frank Patton

Frank Patton, age 64, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013. He was born October 29, 1948 in Hamden, Ohio, the son of the late Caro and Dolly Hicks Patton.

Frank was a 1967 graduate of Vinton County Consolidated High School where he was a star basketball player. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. Frank retired from Lake Hope State Park. He was a dedicated and loving family man who adored his grandchildren and looked forward to going on family vacations. Frank was a member of the Wilkesville Masonic Lodge and he enjoyed sports, fishing and the outdoors in general. He was just all in all a good person.

Frank is survived by his wife of 41 years, Eulah Cottrill Patton; children, Lu Anne (Mike) Dunbar of Arvada, Colorado, Eric (Amy) Shifflet of St. Cloud, Florida, Frank (Kimberlee) Patton of Wellston and Megan (Luke) Proffitt of Orient, Ohio; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Cameron, Kylie, Sierra, Canyon, Jonas, Aaren, Peyton and Baylee; brother, Carson (Margot) Patton of Newport, Virginia; sisters, Louise Georgopoulos of Hobart, Indiana and Faye (Larry) Boyer of Hamden, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emmalee Patton, and his siblings, Archie Patton, Amburst Patton, Arnold Patton, Matthew Patton, Shirley Williams, Audrey Patton, Elouise Moreno, Arlena Teniorio, Ishmael Patton, Virgie Patton and Edward Patton.

Calling hours will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with his family officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
