Frank Ferguson

Frank Ferguson, age 92, of Wellston, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 27, 2018 at his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1926 in Rockingham, North Carolina, son of the late Henry Ferguson and Lois Blanche Morris Ferguson.

Frank was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, the United States Army and the United States Air Force, from which he retired. He served his country during WW II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Frank was one of the last surviving WW II veterans in Jackson County.

In his later years, Frank retired from ABB in Columbus, where he was employed as a supervisor. Frank enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and he loved to play euchre. He was a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, Black Diamond Lodge #538 F&AM, and The Shriners.

Frank is survived by his children, Luanne Ferguson of Dublin and Steve King (Roberta) of Wellston; brother, Clifford “Bill” Ferguson of Gastonia, North Carolina; grandchildren, Ruth Ann Thompson, Margo Elliott, Russell Elliott, Dakota Ferguson, Jeremy King, Taylor King, Tori King, Justin King, Breanna Bales, Danielle Smith and Leah Smith; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Dick Duncan of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ferguson; long-time companion, Kathrine King; and sisters, Pat Craig and Judy Lewis.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Minister Robert Fulton officiating.
