Etta Adkins passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 at Four Winds of Jackson. She was born Oct. 24, 1925 at a little home in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Rev. Pete McCain and Frances (Oliver) McCain. She had four brothers, all of which preceded her in death except for Virgel McCain. She was also preceded in death by a sister.
In the year 1942 she married Herbert Adkins of Oak Hill, Ohio who preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2009. They were married for 67 years and from this union they were blessed with three wonderful children; Herbert Jr., Keith, and Judith, all of Oak Hill, Ohio. Upon becoming men and women, Herbert Jr. married Marlyn Snyder and their children’s names were Angela Lynn who is deceased and Timothy. Keith married Marita Kayra of Finland and they had two children, Allen and Teresa. Judith married Mike Metzler and had two children, Anna and Jennifer. In addition, she had six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as many, many brothers and sisters in the church and many friends and relatives.
Etta wanted all to know how great God’s love has been to her family through the years and of His great love and saving power. Per Etta… “Come on over and see me in my new home, not made with hands!”
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Teddy Honaker officiating. Burial will follow at Horeb Cemetery.
