Elbert Thurman Barnes went home to be with his Lord Tuesday morning, Sept. 6, 2016, at the Four Winds Nursing Facility, Jackson, Ohio. He was born in Canton, Ohio on October 14, 1943 to Maxwell and Neva Barnes.
Elbert was a 1962 graduate of Oak Hill High School and attended Hyles Anderson Seminary. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, Jackson, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxwell and Neva; step mother, Dorothy Barnes; and brothers, Bernard and James Michael Barnes.
Calling hours will be at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., where funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth, Ohio.
