On Monday, June 25, 2018, Edwin F. Simpson, age 94, of Jackson, went to sleep in Jesus. He was born Sept. 19, 1923 in Coalton to the late Orville and Ida Mae (Shook) Simpson.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Doris (Radcliff) Simpson; sons, Edwin (Sonja) Simpson and Jerry Simpson; daughters, Barbara (Tim) Hukill and Trudy (Mike) Stephenson; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are his brothers, Calvin and Ted; sisters, Florence (Sam), Ruth, Anna and Shirley (Dave); and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Chris Hinkley; brothers, George and Larry; and sisters, Ginny, Iva and Margie.
Edwin was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Atlantic and Pacific. After his service, he then worked at JISCO, DT&I and then retired from Pillsbury. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Friends may call Thursday, June 28 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
