Edward D. “Ed” Miller

Edward D. “Ed” Miller, age 87, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, at his home.  He was born June 12, 1932 in Louisa, Kentucky, son of the late Shirley Miller and Ethel Scarberry Miller. 

Ed served his country as an Army Airborne Ranger, 2nd Infantry Division, during the Korean War.  He worked 32 years for AP Green, then retired from Merillat Industries, where he was employed for 12 years. 

Everyone who knew Ed loved him.  He never met a stranger, and he always enjoyed talking with and telling stories to his family and friends.  Ed’s love of life included God, his close knit family, woodworking and gardening. 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rita Ousley Miller; daughters, Diana Yates (Lowell) and Susan White (Jim); grandchildren, Jessica Manring (Seth), Michael Yates and Andrew Yates (Kalle); great-grandchildren, Braydon, Ethan, Case and Kaia; sister, Doretta Wilson; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Miller. 

Private graveside services, with military honors, will be held Saturday, May 23, 2020, at the Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson with Pastor Jerry Eaton officiating.
