Edith V. Spears

Edith V. Spears, 89, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Four Winds Community Nursing Home, Jackson, Ohio.

She was born June 27, 1925 in Grundy, Virginia, daughter of the late Joseph H. and Mary E. Williams Sturgeon. Edith married Roy Spears and he preceded her in death on October 18, 1990. She was a member of Rodney Pike Church of God and a homemaker.

Surviving are her five sons, Roger L. (Eva) Spears of Gallipolis, Jimmy E. (Gloria A.) Spears of Phelps, Kentucky, Ronald G. (Mildred A.) Spears of Delaware, Ohio, Donald L. (Diane) Spears of Jackson, and Bobby R. Spears of Buffalo, West Virginia; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Roy Spears, Edith was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, McKinley, Clarence, Carl and Ira Sturgeon, three sisters, Viola, Rhodira, and an infant sister.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Bynum officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
