Earl Nelson

Earl Tracy Nelson, age 86, of Jackson, Ohio passed away Friday, August 10th, 2018. He was born February 2nd, 1932 in Logan, West Virginia to the late William Cush and Dollie Emmeline (Beckett) Nelson.

Earl was a veteran of the United States Army Infantry in which he served in the Korean War and in Germany. He retired from Central Ohio Transit Authority in Columbus where he was a diesel mechanic. He was a member of TWU Local #208 where he served in various leadership posts including president. He was also a member of Jackson Baptist Temple. Earl was an avid gardener and landscaper. He liked to travel the U.S. and enjoyed camping and sightseeing. He also enjoyed flea markets, auctions, and rummage sales.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley (Bentley) Nelson; sons: Earl Nelson Jr., Tad (Brenda) Nelson, Scott Nelson, and Craig Nelson; ten grandchildren: Wesley, Eric, Justin, Seth, Jacob, Caylee, Caytlin, Jessica, Ian, and Thomas; seven great-grandchildren: Emma, Avonlea, Ezra, Elisha, Sola, Ryleigh, and Brooklyn; three brothers: Warnie Nelson of Saipan, Kenneth Nelson, and Jim Nelson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 15th, 2018 from 11-1PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will follow at 1PM with burial after at Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
