Douglas Coll

Douglas Coll, age 68, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Nov. 3, 2019 after an extended illness. He was a life-long resident of Jackson. Doug was born Dec. 21, 1950 to the late Maurice and Cereta (Arthur) Coll. 

He is survived by brothers, Dan Coll, Tim (Mary) Coll, of Jackson, Rev. Dennis (Dee) Coll, of Lancaster, Ohio; sisters, Cynthia (Martin) Wallace, Mary (Kenny) Taylor, of Jackson and sister-in-law, Linda Coll, of Arizona. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Doug attended Jackson City Schools and began his career in the coal industry and was a member of the UMWA. He later developed his own company, Coll Electric that serviced the area for many years. His final place of employment was Ohio Precious Metals. Doug had a very inquisitive mind and a wealth of knowledge about history, which he liked to share. He was always interested in automobiles, motorcycles or anything on wheels. He was a member of the Patriots Motorcycle Club. Doug was a proud member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks. 

Friends may call Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with an Elks service at 12:30 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Coll officiating. A private burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery with Father Nic Ventura officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
