Donald U. Woodruff

Donald U. Woodruff, age 92, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Wellston, Ohio, on July 10, 1923.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Blanche (Garrett) Woodruff; stepfather, Leonard Forshey; son, Wendell Woodruff; grandson, Jonathan Wright; three brothers: Lawrence, Claude Jr. and Marion L. Woodruff; and sisters: Lucille Booth and Betty Jackson.

Donald was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, the American Legion and the Rolling Wheels Camping Club. He was a retired boiler operator at the Goodyear Atomic Plant and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita (Jackson) Woodruff; son, Walter (Susan) Woodruff of Piketon; daughter, Diana (Dennis) Wright of Thurman; brother, Gary (Mary) Woodruff of Jackson; sister, Freda Woodruff of Wellston; grandchildren: Jessica (Christopher) Brust of Waverly, Dustin Woodruff of Waverly, Jeremy Wright of Wellston and Joshua Wright of Thurman; and great-grandchildren: Kinley Burst, Karley Brust, Victoria Wright, Jasmine Wright, Maddie Wright, Emma Wright and Quinten Wright.

Funeral service will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Thursday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Searls and Pastor Mike Percell officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery with military graveside service by the Disabled American Veterans, Jackson County Chapter 45.
