Donald R. Fannin

Donald R. Fannin, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2014. He passed away peacefully at his home in Jackson, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born on October 17, 1937 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late George and Lillian (Minor) Fannin. His family moved to Jackson in 1947. In 1955 he married Janet (Leach) Fannin and started a family. Don was a humble man who enjoyed life, his family, and friends. He began Fannin Construction, Inc. in 1966. He was a hard worker and truly blessed to earn his living doing what he loved. He started each day early with breakfast in town with friends, and then off to the job. He enjoyed bluegrass music, traveling, camping in his motor home, and taking fishing trips with friends. Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge and attended Christ United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet (Leach) Fannin; three children, Tina (Robert) Kinnamon of Jackson, Ohio, Donald “Greg” (Julie) Fannin of Jackson, Ohio, and Debbie ( Robert) Caudill of Hamden, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Mapes, Kellie (Willie) Woodard, Traci (Matt) Robinson, Jennifer (Travis) Hughes, Sarah (Andrew) Williams, Jessica (Jon) Bobst, Amanda Fannin, Janelle Caudill, Tony (Cyndi) Kinnamon, and Amy Kinnamon; 20 great-grandchildren, Emily, Mitchell, and Lillian Mapes, Noah, Nate, and Charlie Woodard, Addie McLelland, Julia, Gavin, Hailey, Wyatt, and Anna Robinson, Halle and Sydney Hughes, Sophie, Drew, and Jack Williams, Melissa and Christopher Kinnamon, and Tasha Mapes; two sisters, Betty McManaway and Kathy Fannin; one brother, Gary Fannin; as well as many brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Fannin and David Fannin.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio with Diaconal Minister, Janie Karl officiating.
