Daniel W. Harrel

Daniel W. Harrel, age 61, a lifelong resident of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at The Ohio State University James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio, where he had been a patient. He was born in Wellston, Ohio on November 9, 1954 to the late Franklin and Vera (Simmerman) Harrel.

Daniel is survived by his brother, Harry Harrel and sisters, Gail Feltner and Maryjane (Steve) Ferguson. Also surviving are nieces: Ashleigh (Adam) Claar, Emily (Calvin) Ferguson and Kari Foster; nephews: Stephen (Danette) Fannin and Matthew Feltner; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and relatives.

He was a graduate of Jackson High School and the University of Rio Grande, and retired several years ago as a meter-reader for the City of Jackson.

Daniel was a member of the Jackson Community of Christ. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being in the outdoors, telling stories and spending time with friends.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 16 at 2 p.m. at the Jackson Community of Christ with Elder Harry Harrel and Priest Maryjane Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the Community of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Daniel’s memory to the James Cancer Center – OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, or to the Jackson Community of Christ, c/o Cheryl Browning, 411 Mound Street, Jackson, Ohio 45640.
