Curtis Craig

Curtis Craig, age 71, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born Feb. 17, 1948 in McArthur, Ohio, son of the late Earl Melvin Craig and Marguerite Castor Craig. 

Curtis was a member of the last graduating class of Hamden High School, the Class of 1966. He was a very proud veteran of the United States Army, who served a tour of duty during the Vietnam War.  Curtis was a former employee of the City of Wellston for over 20 years. While employed there, he was a Wellston City Police Officer and a Sanitation Engineer. He was also the co-owner, along with his wife, of The Dairy Corner in Wellston for 39 years.

Curtis enjoyed talking to people.  He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.  

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Craig; three daughters, Michelle Rippeth (Rick) of Wellston, Tracy Craig of Commercial Point, and April Doles of Wellston; grandchildren, Sydney Kelley (Matt), Jourdan Adams, Austin Craig (Kelsey Hager), Dakota Brown (Kensie Smith), Tory Doles, and Jaxen Craig; brother, Duane Craig (Sherry) of Ray; sister, Peggy Randazzio of Columbus; along with three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his faithful companion, Bitsy. 

Besides his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by brother, Virgil “Sam” Craig; and sister, Mary Lou Gogel. 

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Eberts officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
