Clyde E. Norton

Clyde E. Norton, age 86, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019 at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.  He was born Aug. 1, 1933 in Vinton County, Ohio to the late Harry E. Norton and Ruth Zinn Norton. 

Clyde was a 1952 graduate of Wilkesville High School.  He was a retired coal miner and a hardworking man, who in his spare time enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.  For over 20 years, Clyde and Shirley spent the winter months at their home in Brooksville, Florida.  He was a member of the Wellston Church of the Nazarene, and recently attended Uncle Joe’s Chapel. 

Clyde is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Shirley R. Faught Norton, whom he married on Oct. 15, 1955; children, Terry A. Norton (Debbie) of Wellston, Sherry A. Norton Headley (Ron) of Wellston, and Wanda L. Norton MacClinchy (Scott) of Vinton; brothers, Earl Norton of Wellston, Lanny Norton (Lynn) of Albany and John Norton (Pricilla) of Enon; sister, Grace Rollins of Missouri; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his son, Michael E. Norton; grandson, Jeremy E. Davis; and several brothers and sisters. 

Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Rev.
