Charlotte Maxine Straten

Charlotte Maxine Straten, age 70, of Wellston, left her earthly body on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio, after several years of declining health. She was born Dec. 13, 1949, in Logan, Ohio, the daughter of Oscar M. Climer and Margie Harper Climer.

Charlotte attended Dundas Grade School and McArthur High School and graduated in 1967 as part of the first graduating class of Vinton County Consolidated High School. She spent many years in Dayton and in Florida, but Southern Ohio was her home. Charlotte retired as a Corrections Officer from the State of Ohio, having previously worked as a security guard at CCI and several local businesses.

Charlotte was an independent sales representative for Avon and enjoyed meeting new people and staying in touch with old friends. Her many hobbies included bowling, crafts, bingo, going to the casino, talking with friends or playing games on Facebook and spending time with her family.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pandora and Vance Teasley; sister, Nancy Chamberlin; grandchildren, Takara Teasley, Dalton Teasley and Josh Teasley, and many friends and relatives. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by former husbands, Paul Straten, John Meacham and Robert Meacham.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hixon Cemetery.
