Charles A. Harper

Charles A. Harper, age 79, a resident of Sun City Center, Florida and Jackson, Ohio, passed away in Florida on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. He was born in Kitts Hill, Ohio on July 24, 1937. He was preceded in death by his father, Garfield Gerry Harper and mother, Pansy Harper Fisher and step-father, Layne Fisher.

Charlie was a graduate of Wellston High School, Class of 1955, and attended the University of Cincinnati. He was a retired teacher from Buckeye Hills Career Center and prior to that, he taught at Manpower Training Center and worked at Meade Corporation. He was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge (50+ years), Columbus Aladdin Shriners, Sun City Center Shrine Club, Hawaiian Isles High Noon Club, Sun City Center Security Patrol, was a past member of Jackson Rotary Club, and was associated with Grace United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, RVing, boating, talking with neighbors and putting a smile on people’s faces. Charlie always liked joking around and was just a fun-loving person.

He is survived by his wife, Leila F. Harper; daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and James Ducker; granddaughters, Janelle (Chad) Davis and Jessica Ducker; sisters-in-law, Betty Brunton, Eileen Richards and Jerry (Glen) Litton; and is also survived by several aunts and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Wendell Vermillion officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
