Cecil Thomas McCorkle

Cecil Thomas McCorkle, age 93, of Oak Hill, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019, at Oakwood Community in Jackson. He was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Lawrence County to the late George and Goldie (Brown) McCorkle. 

He was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy, serving in Hawaii and the Pacific Ocean. He retired as a mechanic from Plibrico. 

Cecil is survived by his daughter, Vickie Snyder, of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Andrea (Chad) McCain, of Oak Hill, Joe (Ruth) McCorkle, of Zanesville and Brad (Gena) Burns, of Circleville, Ohio; six great grandsons, Kyle McGinnis, Logan Burns, Dylan Burns, Nick Burns, Reid McCain and Brady McCain. Also surviving are his siblings, Patty Wells, George “Red” (Linda) McCorkle, Ralph (Norma) McCorkle, Dale (Marsha) McCorkle and Debbie (Skip) Clifford; and daughter-in-law, Carol McCorkle. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Jones) McCorkle; son, Steve McCorkle; siblings, Beatrice Howard, Gene McCorkle, Robert “Sonny” McCorkle, Maxine Stidham, Myrtle Thornsberry, Ronnie McCorkle.

Friends may call Thursday, June 20, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Graveside services will follow at Bethel Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Growing Oaks Program. Remit to; Oaks United, PO Box 152, Oak Hill OH 45656.
