Carrie L. Hougland, age 66, of Wellston, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at her home. She was born May 26, 1952 in Oak Hill, Ohio, daughter of the late Sarah Nancy Hougland Collins and William Gabriel Collins.
Carrie was a former employee of J-Vac Industries and Summers Furniture Store, both in Wellston. In her younger years, she attended the former E.U.B. Church and Wills Chapel Church.
Carrie always enjoyed visiting with friends and taking car rides around Lake Alma, but most of all, she enjoyed talking to her great-nieces, and taking care of her dog, Max.
Carrie is survived by her sister, Lola R. Zachariah (Kevin) of Buckeye Lake, Ohio; nephews, William Gerald Michael Matheney of Chillicothe and Russell Erman Matheney of Wakefield, Kansas; niece, Ashley Rose Matheney of Newark, Ohio; great-nieces, Isabelle Grace Matheney, Lillia Rane Matheney and Annabelle Grace Matheney; and best friend, Linda Malone of Wellston.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents. In keeping with Carrie’s wishes, her body was cremated. Private burial will be held in the Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Carrie’s memory be given to the Jackson County Dog Pound, 248 Reservoir Road, Jackson, OH 45640.
