Carolyn Sue Starcher, 66, born on September 3rd, 1949 passed away January 30th at Edgewood Manor. She died peacefully in her sleep with her sister Connie Holsinger at her side. She is preceded by her companion Bruce Frederick, her Mother, Rossella “Gilliland” Fox and Father Charles Fox, infant sister Nancy Fox, sister Shirley Bishop, brother Charles “Bayboy” Fox, and Great Grandson Marshall.

She is survived by her only Son Robert Starcher Sister Connie Hollsinger, Brother John Thomas Fox, seven Grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Born into a humble family, she was gifted with an adventurous and bold heart. She was never afraid to take calculated risk and live life to the fullest. When life gave her lemons, she made lemonade. She was all about making the best of any situation and never forgetting how she was raised or where she came from. She worked hard as a roofer using black tape to bandage a smashed finger without stopping. Later in life working in the logging industry with the love of her life, Bruce Frederick. She was the first in her family to obtain a college degree when she attended Damar Community College and Hocking Technical College. When her legs were amputated, due to diabetic complications, she decided to talk to other patients to help them understand that it isn’t the end of the world. She thrived to keep life simple. She will also be missed by many friends, staff, and medical professionals at Edgewood Manor, and countless, cousins, nieces, and nephews. As a girl, her Granpa Gilliland told her that the meaning of life is to live, and that is what she did.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 3 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be on Thursday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Dobie Wyant officiating. Burial will follow at Real Friends Cemetery.
