Carl James Taylor, age 93, of Wellston, Ohio, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at his home with his family. He was born Jan. 12, 1926 in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Charles Taylor and Edna (Rife) Taylor.

Carl worked as a heavy equipment operator for 45 years and for Waterloo Coal Company until his retirement. He was the last original member of the Apple City Motorcycle Club. He was also a member of the Moose and the Elks. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army and a member of the Jackson American Legion.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Manning of Bradenton, Florida; sons, Gary (Pam) Taylor of Jackson and Terry (Dawn) Taylor, all of Jackson, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Damron of Waverly, Ohio, Doris Miller of Oak Hill, Ohio, and Edith Ridgeway of Jackson, Ohio.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Wyatt) Taylor; son, Jerry Taylor; and seven brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Butch Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
