Bill McGinnis, Sr.

William H. “Bill” (Miller) McGinnis, Sr., age 76, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. He was born May 25, 1941 in New Boston, Ohio, son of the late James Raymond Kerns and Marcena Virginia McGinnis Denny.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy who served his country during peace time. He was a former employee of Bellisio Foods in Jackson, from where he retired in 2005. Following his first retirement, Bill continued employment with the United States Postal Service until retiring from there in the summer of 2017. Bill loved his family dearly, not only his own family, but everyone else’s family and grandchildren. He was a former member of the VFW Post 8402 in Jackson.

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Gilliland McGinnis; children, William Miller of Columbus, William McGinnis, Jr. (Lewis Cooper) of Palm Springs, California, Tiffani Stanley of Auburndale, Florida, Sandi McGinnis (Rich Hall) of Wellston, Jami McGinnis (Billy Lavinder) of Wellston, Lynnesi Myers (Tim Lenigar) of Wellston, and Jason McGinnis of Jackson; brother, Lester Miller of Chillicothe; sisters-in-law, Sue VanWie of Little River, South Carolina, Kathy Fugett of Jackson, and Kristy Napper of Hamden; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by grandson, Steven Stanley; sister-in-law, Patty Peck; and brothers-in-law, Steve Gilliland, Donnie Haythe and Harry “Junebug” Gilliland.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service, with military honors, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Mathews officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
