Betty Jane Cline

By | January 8, 2019

Betty Jane Cline, age 92, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at her home in Cline Holler. She changed her address, leaving from the home her husband built by hand to a glorious one prepared for her in Heaven.

She was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Hocking County, Ohio to the late Paul Baumann and Catherine White Baumann. Betty fiercely loved her family and was deeply loved and respected in return. She was known for her hospitality, making her house a home for so many. She made the best homemade pancakes and syrup ever, giving rise to the name “Grandma Pancakes”. There was always room at her table for one more, and visitors were always welcome.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Henry Hollie Cline; infant son, Everett Eugene Cline; son, Lawrence Edward “Larry” Cline; daughter, Virginia “Sis” Cline McPheters Writsel; and two granddaughters, Lorie Cline Kelly and Nicole Cline. Also, the last of her generation, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Fred, Olga, Carl, Clyde, Henry, and Dan.

Betty is survived by daughter-in-law, Vickie Cline; four sons, Henry Roger Cline (Barbara), Raleigh Dale Cline (Debbie), John Raymond Cline (Carmen) and Gary Lee Cline; along with 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions in Betty’s memory be given to a favorite charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.
