Barbara M. Thomas, age 82, of Jackson, Ohio, gained her promotion on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Holzer of Gallipolis with her family by her side. She was born on May 14, 1933 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Henry and Fetta (Saunders) Walke.
Barbara was a 1951 graduate of Oak Hill High School. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. She was also a member of the Fine Arts Club, Garden Club, and Canasta Club. She was a very special friend to many people and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Marc (Jan) Thomas of Wellston, Ohio, Bob (Carol) Thomas of Tampa, Florida, Jennifer Thomas of Jackson, Ohio, Carol Thomas of Jackson, Ohio, and Betsy (Ed) Yerian of Chillicothe, Ohio; grandchildren, Heather Thomas of Tampa, Florida, Nicole Thomas of Tampa, Florida, Seth Thomas of Jackson, Ohio, Brandon (Katie) Thomas of Columbus, Ohio, and Abby (Scott) Sturgill of Wellston, Ohio; a brother, John (Jo) Walke of Fayetteville, North Carolina; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David “Picker Thomas; son, Chris Thomas; and brother, Ken Walke.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. David Downton and Rev. Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
