Austin D. “Milli” Milliken

Austin D. “Milli” Milliken, age 17, of Wellston, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 5, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous 17-year battle with AVM. He was born July 2, 1999 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Matthew S. Milliken and Mary E. Walters Milliken.

Austin, a senior at Wellston High School, had already received his diploma from Wellston City Schools, making him a 2017 graduate. He was a point guard for the Wellston Runnin’ Rockets basketball team and the manager of the Wellston Golden Rockets football team.

Austin was a typical teenager who was a gamer and a jack of all trades; but most of all, he was an inspiration to others.

He is survived by his parents, Matt and Mary Milliken of Wellston; brother, Ryan Milliken of McArthur; grandparents, Gregg and Nila Milliken of Wellston; great-grandparents, Harry and Nellie Oyer of Chillicothe; nephews and niece, Gavin, Hunter, Kynnli and Emry Milliken, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Austin was preceded in death by great-grandparents, John and Ethel Milliken, Blain and Ida Amburgey and Moses and Mary Ellen Walters.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A Celebration of Life service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Wellston High School gymnasium with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating.
