Anthony F. “Tony” Robinson

Anthony F. “Tony” Robinson, 78, of Wellston, Ohio, went to Heaven on Thursday morning, Nov. 22, 2018, at Ohio Health Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He will someday again meet in Heaven his wife of 53 years, Lena Williams Robinson, who survives.

He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Tracey Robinson, of Wellston; six grandchildren: McKennah, Cole, Gabby, Hunter, Brice, and Cade Robinson; two great-grandchildren: Ellie and Annie Masters; a brother, Dick (Lynn) Robinson of Waverly; four sisters: Janet Bapst of Beaver, Joann (Lloyd) Rose of Jackson, Becky Burns of Jackson, and Lenora Parker of Waverly.

Tony was born in Jackson, Ohio, on Dec. 27, 1939, to the late Anthony and Gladys Hutchison Robinson. He was a 1958 graduate of Coalton High School and a former supervisor at Wearever in Chillicothe. He retired with over 30 years with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department where he was a six-star Deputy Sheriff and attained the rank of Lieutenant. In his younger days, he and his girlfriend Lena were famous for their roller skating, where they performed lifts and spins. In the 1960s they placed 11th in the State of Ohio Championships. Tony enjoyed time with his grandchildren most of all. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Lena, John, and family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. Pastor Michael Jadrnicek will officiate the services with burial to follow in the Coalton Greenlawn Memory Gardens. The family requests memorial contributions in Tony’s memory be made to the Big W Club, Wellston High School, 200 Golden Rocket Dr., Wellston, Ohio, 45692.
