Alfred Daniels, Jr.

Alfred Daniels, Jr., age 85, of Jackson, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2019 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.  He was born July 9, 1934 in Stockdale, to the late Alfred Daniels, Sr. and Dessie (Bellamy) Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley (Waugh) Daniels, of Jackson; Randy Allen (Roberta) Daniels, of Jackson, Kathy Lynn (Michael) Daniels-Pickett, of Jackson, Brian (Tammy) Daniels, of Jackson; grandchildren, Sean (Liza) Daniels, Kevin Daniels, Brad (Jamie) King, Amber (Jason) Montgomery, Brianna (Ben) Hoffman, Brenna (Bryce) Scott and Seth Daniels; 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bertha Brock.

Alfred trucked on his own for over 35 years until he started Alfred Daniels, Inc. Trucking.  He then was co-owner of the A&A Truck Stop which opened in Jackson on March 6, of 1991 while still operating his own trucking company.  He loved to go to the truck stop every day and eat breakfast with his friends.  He constantly watched his westerns on TV.  He enjoyed his family and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and watching them swim in the pool.  He especially loved to watch his son, grandson, and grandson-in-law race.  And he loved to tell his old on-the-road trucking stories. 

Friends may call Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Butch Cooper officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
