William J. Vicars

William J. Vicars, 86, of Wellston, Ohio, passed away on Monday morning, August 24, 2015, at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born November 4, 1928, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late Abner Vicars and Mildred Reines Vicars Jarrell. He was a graduate of Huntington High School and Devry University. He served during WW II in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman First Class. He was employed by Campbell’s Soup as a plant engineer. He attained 32nd Degree in the Masons and attended the former Trinity United Methodist Church in Wellston.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances L. Vicars, on April 11, 2015, and two sisters.

He is survived by two children, William C. (Cheryl) Vicars and Kathleen Vicars, both of Wellston; his two beloved dogs, Rascal and Rowdy; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with Pastor Leland Brehm officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Grace Baptist Church or the Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston. Arrangements are by the Jenkins Funeral Chapel.
