Rita “Sharon” Rodriguez

Rita “Sharon” Rodriguez, age 71, died peacefully at her home in the presence of her family on Monday, August 24, 2015 after a brief struggle with lung cancer. She was born in Pyro, Ohio on March 8, 1944 to the late William and Gladys Staten.

Sharon raised her family in Cleveland, Ohio and returned back home to retire in Jackson after 45 years. She was an incredible woman who made countless sacrifices for her loved ones. She was deeply connected to herself and her family. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Sharon met Gilbert, the love of her life in 1980. They married in 1984 and celebrated 31 beautiful years together on August 13, 2015. Their love was truly inspiring and ended just as beautifully as it began, with compassion and tenderness.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Gilbert Rodriguez; daughter, Paula (Mark) Beran; son, William Dean (Rose) Borden; daughter, Carol Byrge; daughter, Cheryl Borden; and step-children: Joanne (Carmello) Herrera, Wendell (Kathy) Rodriguez, Anthony (Ann) Rodriguez, and Bert Rodriguez; two siblings, Rosemary (John) Quick and Kay Maynard; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Teresa; two grandsons; and several siblings.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home, 202 Maple Avenue, Oak Hill, OH 45640.
