Shannan Lee Young Newman, age 46, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born October 17, 1968 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Dennis W. Young and Suedell Shepherd Young.
Shannan was a 1987 graduate of Wellston High School and also a graduate of the Buckeye Hills Career School of Nursing, where she received her LPN license. She was a former nurse in the local area and a former cook at the Corner Cafe in Jackson.
Shannan enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her parents, Dennis and Suedell Young of Wellston; sons, Tyler J. Young of Wellston and Joshua R. Newman of McArthur; grandson, Rylan Young; sister, Dori Young Hutchison (Jason) of Hilliard; brother, Kevin D. Young of Wellston; nephew, Brady Hutchison; niece, Kaci Young; companion, Charlie Townsend of Wellston, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Shannan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Vester and Marcella Young and Fred and Aileen Shepherd.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Byer Cemetery.
