Raymond Eugene Vititoe, Jr.

Mr. Raymond Eugene Vititoe, Jr., age 69, of Jonesborough, TN, passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s disease Saturday, April 18, 2015 in Higdon, Alabama at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Kristi Vititoe.

Mr. Vititoe was born in Gallipolis, Ohio and was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Corvin Vititoe. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and currently attended Oakland Avenue Baptist Church.

In 1965 Mr. Vititoe started as a design draftsman for McNally Pittsburg in Wellston, Ohio after graduating from the Southern Ohio Technical School, and in 1978 he moved to Jonesborough, TN to work for Powell Construction. He continued as a design engineer throughout his career, working for local industries including Huyck-Formex and Parker Hannifin.

He enjoyed playing music with others whether it was on a guitar, dobro or piano. He spent much of his time in his workshop building Kentucky longrifles or working on various blacksmith projects. He enjoyed talking to others around the world on his Ham Radio. He was also involved in Boy Scouts for several years, serving as Scoutmaster for Troops 130 and 134.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Jones Vititoe; children, Michael Vititoe, Shari Pokorny (Michael A. Sr.) and Justin Vititoe (Kristi); grandchildren, Zachary Vititoe, Hunter Vititoe, Amanda Silvers and Alexis Silvers; great-grandchildren, Ian Silvers and Rachel Silvers; brother, Joe “Ed” Vititoe; special friend “like a brother,” James “Jimmy” Cash (Sara); special aunt, Evelyn “Dub” Fannin; niece, Trisha Vititoe; nephew, Jamie Vititoe; and many special cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Tennessee with Rev. Garry Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
