Lewis E. “Louie” Collins

Lewis E. “Louie” Collins, age 82, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He was born April 30, 1932 to the late Elza and Eva Lucille (Hayburn) Collins.

Louie worked 18 years at Jisco and then went on to work at Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, Ohio; from which he retired in 1997. He loved his farm and enjoyed working on it with his all-female work crew, his daughters. He was also a member for many years of the Teays Valley Tractor Pullers Association in Stockdale, Ohio. Additionally, he enjoyed camping with his family.

He is survived by the love of his life, Hazel E. (Landrum) Collins of almost 63 years; daddy’s girls, Eva (Ron) Aldrich, Marilyn (David) Williams, Tina (Tony) Pierce, Susan Swisher, and Kathy Hafer (Myron Rosenberger); grandchildren, Jason, Sarah, Rachel, Eric, Rhonda, Shari, Ronnie Lee, Matthew, Randy, Colin, Cody, JayR, Steven, David, Jared, and Kasey; great-grandchildren, Alex, Ashton, Zane, Taylor, Jackie, Tierany, Brianna, Skylor, Clayton, Ashley, Michael, Jacob, Lindsay, Austin, Jaron, Adyson, Shyanne, Keala, Kalle, Peightyn, Patty Sue, Emma, Talon, Izzy, Easton, Bradyn; great-great grandchildren, Leora, Arthur, Mason, Rylee; sisters, Marge Whaley and Margaret Shook; special brothers, Charlie Collins and Leon Howard; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as special four-legged friends, Klinger, Tigger, and Blackie.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his sisters, Helen Hayth, Mary Fisher, and Bea McGhee; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jorge Anido officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Coalton, Ohio. Friends may call on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
