Robert Allen Meacham, age 65, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. Bob was born February 2, 1949, in Jackson County, Ohio, the youngest son of the late Judson Meacham and Ruth (Poe) Meacham. Bob was retired and a resident of the Cambrian in Jackson, but in earlier years had lived in Dayton and Florida where he was a laborer in the automotive industry. Bob was an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Germany, and was an active member of the Jackson VFW Post.
Bob is survived by son, Robert Allen Meacham, Jr. of South Point, Ohio; son, John Patrick Meacham of Florida; sisters, Catherine “Kitty” Hull of Jackson, Sharon Lowery of Iowa and Sandra Swick of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived by former wife and long-time friend, Charlotte Straten of Wellston; former wives Sherry Davidson of Jackson and Vicky Meacham of Florida; and many friends and comrades at the Cambrian and VFW.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Lee Meacham; brothers, Virgil Meacham, Donald “Sonny” Meacham and John Meacham; and sisters, Joanne Meacham, Ruth Meacham and Marge Markham.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio. Graveside memorial services with military honors will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson, Ohio, on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 1 p.m.
