William “Bill” Dobbins

William “Bill” Dobbins, age 91, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014. He was born December 2, 1922 in Jackson to the late Ernest and Nellie (Kinstler) Dobbins.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mona (Leach) Dobbins; sister-in-law, Betty Dobbins of Hamden, Ohio; close adopted daughter, Suzie Jones; close sister-in-law, Virgilene Shook; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Bill was a WW II veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, where he served in Central Europe. He was also a member of Columbus Central Ohio Chapter of the 82nd Airborne. He worked at Frick-Gallagher in Wellston as a welder and retired after 46 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and he was the last of the nine children.

A funeral service was held on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Jackson with Father Joseph John Trapp II officiating. Burial followed at Fairmount Cemetery. Calling hours were held on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio followed by a Rosary at 6 pm.
