Carl E. “Sonny” Wasmer

Carl E. “Sonny” Wasmer, age 83, a longtime resident of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Hill View Retirement Center in Portsmouth, OH. Carl was born June 23, 1930 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late William and Irene (Eubanks) Wasmer.

Carl graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1948 and worked at Haines Chevrolet before joining the United States Air Force, where he served during the Korean Conflict. After returning, he worked at and later managed Jackson Implement’s Oak Hill Branch. Later, he instructed Junior Auto Body at Buckeye Hills Career Center. He was also active at St. Paul’s Church and with various community events.

Carl was preceded in death by parents, William and Irene (Eubanks) Wasmer, and wife, Jean Wasmer.

Carl is survived by two sons and their spouses, Darrel and Carla Wasmer of St. Louisville, Ohio, and Alan and Barbara Wasmer of Oak Hill, Ohio; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be under the direction of Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, Ohio. Friends and family may call Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery.
